Obtaining an IP Address
To assign an IP address, perform the following procedure:

1. Open Control Panel and double-click the Network icon.

2. On the Configuration tab, click the TCP/IP listing for the network adapter you have installed. Click on Properties. The TCP/IP Properties dialog box appears.

3.On the IP Address tab, choose the following options: · Obtain an IP address automatically. This is the default setting.

Then during system startup, the Windows 98 computer receives an IP address, subnet mask, and other optional parameters from the DHCP server. Each client will receive a unique IP address.

4. On the IP Address tab, choose the following options: · Use DHCP for WINS Resolution. This is the default setting.


5. On the IP Address tab, choose the following options: · Disable DNS . This is the default setting.

Click OK.
