Aboriginal people have always used the location which Fort James stands as a meeting and trading place. This is mainly due to the accessibility fore it is a peninsula with KingswayR. , U-turnR meet and become the Fort James R. from there its only 5 mile from the ocean. People from different tribes would travel from up and down the coast, as well as the down the two rivers to exchange goods. This place was approximently an equal distance for each group to travel.
